2023 Glenn T. Seaborg Actinide Separations Award




We are accepting nominations for the Glenn T. Seaborg Actinide Separations Award, which is intended to recognize those U.S. scientists and engineers who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the development and application of actinide separations process and methodology.

 

Criteria for nominees include:

 
(1) The Seaborg Award shall be presented only to a scientist or engineer of U.S. nationality.
(2) A recipient of the Seaborg Award shall have made a significant contribution to one or more of the following areas:
  • Development of new and/or improved methods for the recovery, separations, and purification of actinide elements on a laboratory or plant scale.
  • Development of new and/or improved methods for the plant-scale recovery, separation, and purification of actinide elements.
  • Basic research that is directly and clearly related to the separation of actinide elements.
(3) The recipient's contributions in one or more areas of actinide separations shall be of current significance even though the work may have been performed many years prior to the nomination for the Seaborg Award.

Nominations are accepted until April 9, 2023

  

The Seaborg Nomination Forms should include the following:

  
  • Completed nominating form.
  • The candidate's curriculum vitae.
  • An explanation of the achievement (including a description of their contribution in actinide separations and the significance of the contributions, and a list of relevant publications and patents that support the stated contributions).
  • Letters of recommendation - a minimum of three letters of recommendation, with at least two letters coming from scientists/engineers not affiliated with the nominee's home institution.
